What is permanent cosmetics?

Permanent makeup, also known as intra-dermal pigmentation or micro-pigmentation, is a revolutionary method of implanting small amounts of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.

Permanent Makeup typically consist of application to the eyes for eyeliner, or lash enhancement, eyebrow color with hair-strokes to create the right brow for each face giving the client a base as simulating eyebrow hairs for that completely natural look. Lip liner and full lip color with or without reshaping or reconstructing the lips.

Who benefits from permanent cosmetics?

EVERYONE, from the young to the elderly, who desire a soft, natural enhancement to their appearance. It is especially beneficial to people who can’t wear other cosmetics due to allergies and skin sensitivities; Active people who want to look their best for their activities, and those who don't want to worry about "sweating off" or reapplying cosmetics. Also the vision impaired who have difficulty applying their cosmetics, those with motor impairments with unsteady hands that cannot apply their own makeup, and busy people who don’t have time to spend on their makeup.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes. The strictest OSHA sanitation and safety standards are followed by using only 100% disposable tools, with fresh supplies and pigments. Mercedeh is state tattoo licensed & annually blood borne pathogen certified. All pigments are hypo-allergenic containing no fragrances, emollients or other irritants.

What is the recovery time?

Following the procedure, you may resume most normal activities immediately; However, for the 7-14 days after are crucial to follow your aftercare instructions that will be given. The emphasis on aftercare is to keep the area clean, undisturbed and moisturized with only the ointment or oil provided. Recovery time varies depending on variety of factors such as age, degree of sun damage, skin tone, skin texture, excessively dry or oily skin conditions, metabolism, and facial surgery.

When the color is freshly applied it should always look "a little too dark". After the healing process is complete there will be an obvious loss of color. After the initial application of color, a follow up procedure may be needed to achieve the correct level of color saturation.

How are the colors and shapes determined?

Some women desire a natural effect using softer colors while others prefer the more dramatic effect of bolder colors. A personalized consultation to determine your most flattering look, color matching, preparation (shaping and tweezing, if necessary), and an aftercare consultation will be done before, during, & after the procedure.

Does it hurt?

A topical anesthetic is used to reduce any discomfort and to promote relaxation. Some clients feel a slight prickly or tweezing sensation during the first few moments of the procedure on the eyebrows.

Is it like a tattoo?

Yes. It has some of the same qualities, yet it is very different. Only specialists of permanent makeup can perform this procedure on the face. The techniques, tools and pigments are specially designed for permanent makeup procedures making it safe and sterile. Permanent makeup technicians also use effective topical anesthetics that are not allowed for use by tattoo artists. They also use instruments that are much more delicate in design that provide the most natural looking results.

What happens after the procedure?

There may be slight tenderness or swelling which will subside quickly. Detailed aftercare instructions and approximate healing schedule forms are provided and reviewed before and after each procedure. Your complete skin healing time can take from 30-45 days. If a touch-up is needed, it will not be scheduled any sooner than 30 days and no later than 3 months.

How long will it last?

Permanent make-up last anywhere from 1.5-10+ years, depending on the original color selection. However, as you become accustomed to your new makeup it is not uncommon to want more. You may want to freshen up your new makeup every 1.5-3 years. The darker the color, such as brown/black, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Natural, lighter colors are oftentimes more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and chemical breakdown by the body. Some clients come back in for a “color boost / touch-up” anywhere from 1.5-10 years after. Everyone’s skin is different and some hold in pigment better than others, so it is personalized to the individual.

What is the feathering & the microblading technique?

The Feathering & Microblading technique are done with a small, non-mechanical handheld tool the size of a pencil that is very subtle on the skin to produce a soft and natural look for the eyebrows and/or the eyeliner. Personalized pigment colors are gently implanted into the skin by the handheld tool, allowing for good control and depth of color with a gentle” tapping and gliding” motion of the tool.
